Four arrested on drug charges

MARIETTA — Two separate search warrants executed by the Washington Morgan Noble Major Crimes Task Force this week resulted in four arrests for drug trafficking.

On Wednesday, agents executed a search warrant at 9580 State Route 339, Vincent. According to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, agents encountered Daniel L. Francis in a bedroom he stated was his. Francis was searched and plastic baggies containing a total of 5.6 grams of methamphetamine were found in his pants pocket. A scale and small plastic baggies were located throughout the room. Also located in the bedroom was a Steven’s single shot 12-gauge shotgun.

Agents also encountered two males in an upstairs bedroom, along with a large bag of heroin and after further searching discovered two more large bags of heroin directly behind the night stand. One of the bags had ruptured, spilling the heroin onto the floor and wall. The two males were identified as Tyrece Thompson and Joeshawn Davis. Both Thompson and Davis were found to have outstanding warrants in Ohio.

The total amount of drugs recovered was 53.24 grams of heroin and 5.6 grams of methamphetamine.

Daniel Lee Francis, of 9580 State Route 339, Vincent, was placed under arrest on a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine in the vicinity of a child, a second-degree felony, and having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony.

Tyrece Taveil Thompson, 30, of 733 Store Ave., Akron, was placed under arrest for trafficking in drugs, heroin, in the vicinity of a child, a first-degree felony, along with the outstanding warrant for theft.

Joeshawn Henry Davis, 28, of 1315 Vale Drive, Apt. C, Copley, was placed under arrest for trafficking in drugs, heroin, in the vicinity of a child, a first-degree felony, along with the outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

Francis remains incarcerated with no bond, while Thompson and Davis were each given $100,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.

Meanwhile, a search warrant executed Monday at 204 Brandy Drive, Marietta, resulted in the arrest of Edward Murphy.

Agents encountered two individuals in the residence, one of them being a juvenile and then located Murphy in the garage between two vehicles. Murphy resisted, however agents were able to place him in custody.

Upon searching the residence, agents located two baggies of heroin with a combined weight of 11.64 grams, several sets of digital scales, numerous packages of baggies, several glass vials, empty pill capsules, a loaded syringe of suspected heroin, two drug ledgers and $12,105 in cash. One baggie of heroin was found in the garage ceiling and the other baggie was located by the defendant’s vehicle.

While being escorted out of the residence, Murphy stated that he threw a baggie of heroin into the garage ceiling after hearing the agents.

Murphy, 37, of 204 Brandy Drive, Marietta, was arrested for trafficking in heroin, a first-degree felony, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony and endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor.

He appeared in Marietta Municipal Court on these charges and was released on bond. He is currently being held on a Marietta Municipal Court Probation Violation charge.
