Wood County Circuit Court hears two cases

PARKERSBURG – Two hearings took place in Wood County Circuit Court Tuesday.

* Kelly Cunningham, 34, 2601 New York Ave., Parkersburg, appeared for a status hearing. A defense motion to continue her trial to allow her to have a criminal responsibility examination was granted. Judge Jason Wharton set her trial date for April 17 with a status hearing at 1 p.m. April 10. She was charged with child neglect creating risk of injury in June 2017.

∫ Jessica Renea Thomas, 36, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, appeared for a hearing to reduce her bond from $400,000 surety which was denied. According to court records, she was charged with first-degree armed robbery.

On Dec. 4, 2017 she and others entered an Avery Street apartment without permission and Thomas allegedly pointed a firearm at the occupant while the others struck him with metal objects. He was able to get away to call for help.

When the occupant returned with a police escort, several items were missing. During the execution of a search warrant of Thomas’ residence the next day, items taken from the victim were located and seized, police said. Thomas’ case is awaiting presentation to a grand jury.
