Man killed in Meigs County fire identified

POMEROY — The identity of a person killed in a fire last week in Meigs County has been released by the sheriff’s department.

Oscar Wilson, 61, died of smoke inhalation Feb. 8, after a fire broke out inside his camper, Sheriff Keith Wood said on Thursday.

While the fire is being investigated by the Ohio Fire Marshal, it was probably started by two or three electric heaters used to heat the camper, Wood said.

Salem and Rutland volunteer fire departments and Meigs EMS responded to the fire on Ohio 335, east of Danville.
