Former principal charged with domestic battery

VIENNA — A former Parkersburg High School principal was arrested Monday on a charge of domestic battery and a bond violation.

Charged was Pamela Goots, 60, of Vienna, Vienna Police Chief Mike Pifer said.

“There was a domestic incident at the Goots residence,” Pifer said. “It was alleged that Mrs. Goots bit Mr. Goots on the arm.”

In December, Pamela Goots was charged with domestic battery for allegedly scratching her husband’s face, Pifer said. Part of the bond agreement from that charge was to have no contact with the victim, Pifer said, so Pamela Goots also was charged with a bond violation.

She is currently in the North Central Regional Jail. Pifer said the first domestic battery charge has not gone to court. First-offense domestic battery carries a sentence of up to one year in jail, he said.

Goots worked for Wood County Schools for nearly 36 years, the last six as principal of Parkersburg High School. Goots retired as PHS principal in October 2016, but continued as a substitute principal at the school until Principal Kenny DeMoss took over in late December 2016.
