Bank robbery suspect waives hearing

PARKERSBURG — One week after allegedly robbing an area bank, the accused had a hearing in magistrate court on Tuesday.

Jeremy Lane Cheeseman, 29, 127 Winding Heights Road, Parkersburg, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, waived a preliminary hearing in Wood County Magistrate Court on a charge of robbery and was bound over to circuit court. He is in custody in lieu of a $400,000 cash or surety bond.

Police said the robbery occurred just before noon Jan. 9 at Williamstown Bank at 3002 Seventh St. in Parkersburg.

Bank employees and the security cameras were able to provide specific details of the suspect and his vehicle, police said. Patrol units were able to quickly locate the potential suspect.

Police allege Cheeseman told the bank teller to give him all of the money in the drawer. He kept his hands inside of his jacket pockets, police said, and the teller complied believing him to be armed.
