Wood County receives $1.466 check for IEI fire

CHARLESTON – Gov. Jim Justice this afternoon presented representatives of the Wood County Commission with a check for $1,466,299.15 to cover the expenses from the Intercontinental Export Import Plastics warehouse fire.

The fire started on Oct. 21 and burned about a week. The county hired private contractors to aid volunteer fire departments.

Among participants in a ceremony at the governor’s office today were Justice, Secretary Jeff Sandy of the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, Commissioners Blair Couch, Bob Tebay and Jimmy Colombo, County Administrator Marty Seufer, Sens. Mike Azinger and Donna Boley and Delegates John Kelly, Vernon Criss, Ray Hollen and Bill Anderson.
