Suspects sought in Calhoun County murder

BIG BEND — Police expect to make additional arrests today in the home invasion and murder of a Calhoun County resident

Lt. C.A. Parsons with the West Virginia State Police said one man is under arrest and three more are being sought in connection with a home invasion and shooting early Tuesday morning in Big Bend in Calhoun County.

Homeowner Eugene O. Stevens, 77, was fatally wounded after being shot multiple times during an exchange of gunfire as four men attempted to break into his home, Parsons said. One of the men, Travis Boggs, 25, of Chloe, W.Va., was critically wounded by return fire from Stevens. Boggs is in stable condition and under arrest at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston.

A red Ford Explorer, believed to have been stolen from Clay County, was used by the men to flee the scene and drop Boggs off at an area emergency room. The vehicle was later found abandoned and burned.

Parsons said police have the names of suspects and additional arrests are expected to occur sometime today.
