PARKERSBURG — One person died in a head-on collision on Emerson Avenue north of Parkersburg this afternoon.

A man driving a vehicle with Ohio plates was killed in the crash, according to Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens. A man in a vehicle with West Virginia plates was transported to a local hospital. Stephens said his office was still working to notify family members of those involved.

The West Virginia Division of Highways is on scene performing traffic control. Four of five lanes on Emerson Avenue remain closed.
