News and Sentinel Job Fair slated for Sept. 29
VIENNA — Prospective employers and job seekers will meet at The Parkersburg News and Sentinel’s Job Fair on Sept. 29 at Grand Pointe Conference Center in Vienna.
So far, more than 15 companies and organizations are signed up to participate in the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, 1500 Grand Central Ave. in Vienna near Lowe’s.
”There will be companies accepting resumes and providing applications,” said organizer Mary Jo Miller. ”People should come dressed for success and bring an updated resume if they have one.”
Among the companies and organizations participating are Yenkin-Majestic Paint Company, Pilot Flying J, The Galley, ECM Energy Services, Camden Clark Medical Center, Par Mar Stores-Ohio and West Virginia, Allance Industries, Westbrook Health Services, Hi Vac Corporation, Memorial Health System, Molemasters, Rescare and the Vienna Lowe’s, southside Lowe’s and Marietta Lowe’s.
They will be hiring for a variety of positions. Some of the positions are nurses, forklift operators, dispatchers, administrative assistants, store managers, customer service representatives, welders and assemblers, servers, cashiers , housekeepers, general laborers and programers.
More companies will be added before the job fair takes place, Miller said. In the past, the event has had over 30 participating companies and organizations.
Companies have until Sept 22 to sign up to participate.
There is no admission fee.
During the Job Fair, each company will have its own presentations and giveaways.
”They will be accepting applications and resumes at their own booths,” Miller said. ”People need to be ready for possible on-site interviews.”
Tables will be set up for job seekers to fill out the applications. A room will be set up for interviews between employers and prospective employees.
Refreshments will be available throughout the event as people need a break between talking with one another or waiting for a booth to clear out.
“Companies will provide everything necessary to complete the applications,” Miller said. ”Not all companies will be doing interviews that day. Some are only there to provide information and collect applications.”
