Twin Rivers Baptist Church celebrating 21st anniversary

WHIPPLE — Twin Rivers Baptist Church at 110 D.A.V. Road, Whipple, will be celebrating its 21st anniversary on Sunday, May 7.

The morning service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a meal to be served in the church’s Family Center. A brief afternoon service will follow the meal. There will be no evening service.

During the services, the church’s charter members will be recognized. Testimonies about the church’s beginnings will be given during the afternoon service.

Twin Rivers Baptist held its first worship services on May 5, 1996, in the Ohio Valley Room at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta with founding pastor James P. Rushing Jr. as the speaker. The church’s chartering service was held June 9, 1996, at Marietta High School.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the church’s new church building on D.A.V. Road was held Oct. 26, 1997, and the first service in the new building was conducted Oct. 4, 1998.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the church’s new adjacent Family Center was held June 28, 2015, and a dedication for the building was held June 5, 2016.

Jeff Baumer has served as the church pastor since 2008.
