Washington County Career Center names Students of Month

MARIETTA — The Washington County Career Center has named its December Students of the Month, Renee Ford and Andrew Klintworth.

Ford is a Warren senior enrolled in the Cosmetology program. She is the daughter of Gary and Tracie Ford of Marietta.

At the Career Center, Ford is a member the SkillsUSA youth organization and National Technical Honor Society.

She has been on the Career Center’s Principal List as well as the W.I.S.H. List in meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95 percent attendance or higher, and no office referrals. Ford will sit for the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology – License of Cosmetology in May or June 2017.

This school year, she is scheduled in the College Algebra and English Composition dual-enrollment classes which she can earn both high school and college credit.

Mathematics instructor, Evan Schaad, nominated her for this honor and commented on special traits and roles that Renee carries such as polite, energetic, outgoing, helpful, and a great leader.

Ford is a manager with the McDonald’s on Pike Street in Marietta.

Upon graduation, she plans to attend Washington State Community College to obtain two associate’s degrees in massage therapy and business.

Klintworth is a Waterford senior enrolled in the heavy equipment program. He is the son of Roy and Lucy Klintworth of Waterford.

Klintworth is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization, National Technical Honor Society, and holds the office of vice president in his technical program. Additionally, he is a Career Center Student Ambassador.

Klintworth has been on the Career Center’s Honor Roll as well as the W.I.S.H. list in meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95 percent attendance or higher, and no office referrals.

He is currently working on obtaining the National Center for Construction Education and Research industrial credential and has obtained both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10-Hour Training card and the Industrial Forklift credential.

During his two years in the Heavy Equipment program, Klintworth has learned to operate various types of equipment such as the backhoe, dozer, dump truck, excavator, loader, and skid steer.

At Waterford High School, he has participated in both Varsity cross country and track all four years. Klintworth received three nominations for this honor by Heavy Equipment instructor, John Stone; English instructor, Sherm Koons; and Mathematics instructor, Evan Schaad.

Klintworth is employed in Beverly at the Beverly Feed as a mill worker. After graduating, he plans to enter directly into the workforce utilizing his heavy equipment skills.
