PARKERSBURG — More than 300 members and friends of the West Virginia Farm Bureau gathered Nov. 11-13 at the Days Hotel and Conference Center in Flatwoods to conduct its 97th Annual Meeting.

Among those attending were Wood County Farm Bureau members Ralph and JoEllen Blair, Dave and Kam Lawson, Mark and Shelia Young, Becky Powell, Teighlor and Norma Cross, Roger and Janet Wigal.

The most important activity conducted during the annual meeting is the review of current policies and the addition of new policies by the voting delegates.  The policies adopted by delegates originate at the grassroots level and define the organizations position on a variety of concerns, including taxes, highways, and public issues.

Elections for state leadership positions were held on the last day of the meeting.  The voting delegates chose Charles Wilfong of Pocahontas County as president and John Pitsenbarger of Nicholas County as vice president.

The Women’s Leadership Committee voting delegates selected Pam Hessler from Morgan County as chair of the farm bureau’s Women’s Leadership Committee.

During the meeting Wood County Farm Bureau was recognized for achieving first place in Women’s Leadership and second place in Safety.  For information about this event or about how to join Wood County Farm Bureau, please contact Janet Wigal at 304-863-8361.
