Wood County Board of Education set to meet Tuesday
PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Board of Education will conduct several presentations and review finances and programs at a meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the central office, 13th and Plum streets.
The meeting is open to the public.
The board will have several recognitions, including a presentation of veterans diplomas by Parkersburg High School Principal Pam Goots and recognition of Wood County Teacher of the Year Corinne Full.
The board will receive a presentation by Brooke Albright from the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office on educating parents on substance abuse. Finance Director Connie Roberts will present the district’s fiscal year 2016 financial statement, and Goots will present on the new Options Pathways program for high school students.
Board members also will discuss the suspension without pay of a Wood County Schools employee. The employee’s name and details of the suspension are not included on the agenda, though the item is up for a vote later in the meeting.
The board also is expected to vote on the expulsion of two students for violation of the Safe Schools Act. The names of the students and what schools they attend are not released due to privacy requirements.
