Stephanie Starcher gets excellent evaluation from Fort Frye

LOWER SALEM — Fort Frye Local Schools Board of Education had excellent things to put down when evaluating its superintendent, Stephanie Starcher.

“We really could not be more blessed with the superintendent we are able to work with,” said Kevin Worthington, Fort Frye Local Schools Board of Education member, as the board approved the evaluation at its regular meeting Wednesday at Salem-Liberty Elementary School.

This evaluation is a composite of board members’ completed evaluation forms.  Starcher received an evaluation with nearly every box checked with exceeding expectations met in all areas, including job responsibilities, productivity and time management, and personal habits related to work. Some notable comments mentioned in the evaluation included her incredible mind, leadership and energy.

“Stephanie really knows how to go above and beyond,” board member Johnna Zalmanek said.  “She really makes the kids her No. 1 priority and that’s a quality that is hard to find.”

Starcher is a breast cancer survivor and has been cancer free since 2014.  While undergoing treatments and therapy, she worked from home but continued to excel at her job, board members said.

“She worked with us while even going through chemotherapy because she genuinely cares about her job,” board member Lloyd Booth said about Starcher.

“This community is unlike any other and that’s what (motivates) me to do what I do so well,” Starcher said. “I am extremely privileged to be able to do what I do and be given this opportunity to work with such a collaborative group. I don’t think I could find a group with any more integrity.”
