PARKERSBURG — A Parkersburg High School English teacher has been named Wood County Schools Teacher of the Year.
Corinne Full was honored Tuesday by the Wood County Board of Education for her outstanding work as an educator.
Full has worked for Wood County Schools for nine years, eight of those at PHS.
Full has a master’s in education with a specialization in English.
“It’s absolutely an honor,” to be named teacher of the year, she said. “I can think of a dozen teachers that I admire and who have done tremendous work. I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of support and wonderful students.
“It’s easy to be a great teacher when you have great students.”
Prior to becoming a teacher in Wood County, Full was a social worker and also taught college classes at Washington State Community College.
Superintendent John Flint said Wood County Schools employs more than 1,000 teachers and each year goes through a rigorous screening process to find the educator who best embodies the spirit and mission of the school system.
“They have to go through a lot of hurdles to get here,” Flint said.
