Area man taken to hospital after crash

MARIETTA – A Marietta man was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital Saturday morning after his pickup truck tumbled over a 30-foot embankment.

David L. Lamp, 29, of 709 Devola St. was traveling west on Lancaster Street around midnight Saturday when the Dodge Dakota pickup he was driving went left of the center line and struck a guardrail at the intersection of Lancaster and Bellevue streets, according to the Marietta Police report.

Lamp attempted to back away from the guardrail, but the rear end of the pickup went over the east side of the roadway and rolled approximately 30 feet before coming to rest on its top between Lancaster Street and Fort Harmar Drive.

Police said the accident was not reported until 6:52 a.m. Saturday as the pickup could not be seen from the roadway. Lamp was transported to MMH and was listed as discharged from the hospital on Sunday, according to a hospital spokesman.

The incident is under investigation and charges may be pending, according to city police.
