Wells slates busy concert sked

VIENNA – Smooth jazz musician David Wells of Vienna has a busy summer.

Two of the highlights for the trumpet player are the release of his new CD “Breakin Out” this summer and performing in September at the smooth jazz event he started last year in Vienna. The 2014 Vienna Rib & Jazz Festival will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 13 in Vienna’s Spencer Park on 28th Street.

There is no admission to the jazz fest and a rib contest is included in the event. There will be ribs, funnel cakes, Sno Biz and soda.

Featured, along with Wells, will be Steve Oliver (guitar player and singer from Los Angeles), Chris Geith (piano player from New York City), ZOE (from Philadelphia), Otis Crockron Project (R&B singer from Athens), and the Jackson Middle School Choir and Jazz Choir.

Wells has a Chocolate Jazz radio program and a Chocolate Jazz Foundation in the Mid-Ohio Valley. He is working on plans to move to Nashville to expand his music career, he said.
