Pleas heard in Wood County Circuit Court

PARKERSBURG – Two hearings took place in Wood County Circuit Court Wednesday.

* Michele S. Salyers, 47, P.O. Box 4, Macfarlan, W.Va., entered a plea agreement with the state to plead guilty to a bill of information charging her with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana. A motion for alternative sentencing was taken under advisement and she was referred to adult probation for a presentencing investigation. Her sentencing was set for 9 a.m. Oct. 22 before Judge Jeffrey Reed.

* Carrie Megan Hupp, 27, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, entered a plea agreement to plead guilty to a charge of fraudulent use of an access device as charged by the May 2014 grand jury. A motion for alternative sentencing was taken under advisement and she was referred to adult probation for a presentencing investigation. She was also granted a motion to reduce her bond from $45,000 to a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. Her sentencing was set for 11 a.m. Sept. 18 before Reed.

In hearings Tuesday:

* Justin Adam Ash, 26, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, was granted a motion to dismiss a charge and to reduce his bond. Reed granted the motion to dismiss one of two charges of failure to provide notice of registration changes as charged by the May 2014 grand jury. His bond was reduced from $25,000 to $5,000 personal recognizance bond with the condition he register with the state police as required and commit no other crimes.

* Brown W. Salyers II, 40, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, entered a plea agreement to plead guilty to charge of manufacture of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, as charged by a special session of the grand jury on March 5. Reed took a motion for probation or alternative sentencing under advisement. His sentencing was set for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18.

* Charles Edward Carver, 41, 38 Mitchell Way, Washington, W.Va., entered a plea agreement to plead guilty to a pair of lesser included offenses. He pleaded guilty to charges of first-offense DUI of a controlled substance or drugs and fleeing from an officer in a vehicle, both lesser included offenses to the charge of fleeing from an officer while under the influence of a controlled substance or drugs, as charged by the January 2014 grand jury. A motion for probation or alternative sentencing was taken under advisement and his sentencing was set for 9 a.m. Oct. 14 before Reed.

* Christian Todd Welburn, 49, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, appeared for pre-trial motions but the court was informed a plea agreement had been reached. He was referred to adult probation for a presentencing investigation and he agreed to allow the judge to inspect the investigation before sentencing. Reed set sentencing for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 29.

* Lindsey Sherman Tibbs III, 36, 138 S. Fifth St., Parkersburg, entered a plea agreement to plead guilty to a charge of unlawful assault. His sentencing was set for 9 a.m. Sept, 18 before Judge J.D. Beane.
