Patterson tapped for deputy superintendent

PARKERSBURG – Gihon Elementary School Principal Betsy Patterson will be recommended as the Wood County Schools’ new deputy superintendent.

The Wood County Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to vote on the transfer. The meeting will be held at the board’s 13th and Plum streets offices in Parkersburg and is open to the public.

The board approved creation of the deputy superintendent position June 9. Creation of the position was recomended by incoming Superintendent John Flint as part of a reorganization plan for the district’s central office.

Also up for approval is the transfer of Christie Willis, assistant director of Title I, to the position of director of elementary schools. Willis would replace outgoing director Joe Oliverio, who will become executive director of RESA 5 on July 1.

In addition to the votes, the board will discuss meeting dates for the 2014-15 school year.

The school board will receive a presentation on an Affordable Care Act Resolution, which will also be up for a vote. The presentation will be given by Finance Director Connie Roberts, but she could not be reached Friday for further details.
