Hydrant work to interrupt service

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg Utility Board beginning 8 a.m. Thursday will replace a fire hydrant at Pearcy Avenue and 19th Street.

The work will continue until complete, weather permitting, and will cause the interruption of water service to the following areas:

* 1700 and 1800 blocks of Pearcy Ave.

* 1900 and 2000 blocks of 19th St.

* 1800 block of Maxwell St.

* 1700 block of Dewey St.

* 1700, 1800 and 1900 block of 17th St

* 1700 and 1800 block of Park Ave.

Pearcy and 19th will be subject to restricted traffic flow during construction. The utility board recommends commuters consider seeking alternative routes to avoid delays.

Customers in the area may experience discolored water during the process and should flush their lines through the cold water faucet at the bath tub. Residents should allow the water to run until clear.

This process should only require three to five minutes. If water does not clear in a reasonable period of time contact the office at 304-424-8535 or after hours 304-424-8532 to report any issue.
