Airport break-in suspect arrested

WILLIAMSTOWN – A suspect wanted in a break at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport has turned himself in, officials said on Wednesday.

Nathaniel Ray Collins, 21, of Parkersburg turned himself in around 9 p.m. Wednesday, said Chief Deputy Shawn Graham with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. Collins was arraigned before Magistrate Joe Kuhl who set bond at $25,000 on a felony charge of breaking and entering.

The Detective Bureau investigation led to a search warrant Wednesday afternoon for Collins’ residence at 162 Warren Ave., Graham said.

Detectives recovered several items linked to the airport break-in at the Warren Avenue residence, Graham said.

Officers searched for Collins for several hours on Wednesday afternoon before Collins turned himself in, Graham said.

Collins is accused of breaking into airport management offices by going through the terminal into the locked office through a drop ceiling between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 12:30 a.m. Monday, Graham said. Several items were taken from the offices, including a laptop, documents and a jacket, Graham said.

Airport Manager Jeff McDougle on Tuesday told the newspaper he was unsure what anyone could want at the airport because there’s no money or safe.
