Service will continue at MOV Airport

WILLIAMSTOWN The U.S. Department of Transportation has ordered Silver Airways to maintain service at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport.

The DOT announced it would prohibit the airline from ending the current service under Essential Air Service requirements that state regional airports in its program will have commercial air service.

Airport manager Jeff McDougle said this is the government’s procedure regarding the program and the communities for which it provides commercial flights.

The DOT has requested bids for a new air service with a deadline of next month.

In February, the airline announced it would end service to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to five regional airports to which it provides flights in mid-May.
