Panel to discuss GMOs at MC

MARIETTA – A panel will discuss genetically modified organisms at 6 p.m. April 2 in room 124 in Thomas Hall at Marietta College.

Biotechnology in plant agriculture has come to mean the process of intentionally making a copy of a gene for a desired trait of one plant or organism and using it in another, resulting in genetically modified organisms.

The panel will include: Eric Fitch, chairman of biology and environmental sciences at Marietta College; David Brown, associate professor of biology at Marietta College; Andrea Sites, associate professor of biology at Washington State Community College; Tom Witten of Witten Produce Patch; and a representative from Monsanto.
