Water distribution point set in Spencer
SPENCER – The city of Spencer has made a water distribution area available behind the municipal building for residents impacted by the water emergency.
City hall is asking residents to bring their own containers.
A chemical spill Thursday from a coal preparation facility into the Elk River in Charleston prompted a multi-county state of emergency and warning to residents not to drink, bathe, wash clothes or cook with the water. The West Virginia American Water Co. has a treatment plant nearby and its those customers who are affected.
Customers of the Spencer Water Works are not effected by the state of emergency issued by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.
West Virginia American customers in Roane and Jackson counties are affected.
