Power outage remains under investigation
PARKERSBURG – The Wednesday evening outage that left 1,106 Parkersburg residents without electricity during rush hour is still under investigation, officials said.
The incident is being described as a “circuit lockout,” said Charlene Gilliam, spokesman for Mon Power.
A fault in a piece of equipment leading into the Parkersburg area caused the equipment to stop working around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Gilliam said. Every home that receives electricity from that line went dark, she said.
Power for everyone was restored around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Gilliam said.
The traffic light outages at 16th Street and St. Marys Avenue, Sixth Street and Juliana Street, and Sixth Street and Ann Street were not related to this power outage; service was restored to these traffic lights within 30 minutes, said officials with the Parkersburg Police Department.
