Turley to speak on BP blowout

MARIETTA – John Turley, who has more than 30 years of worldwide drilling experience, will speak about BP’s Macondo Blowout in 2010 on Marietta College’s campus today.

Turley, who taught in Marietta’s Petroleum Engineering program from 1972-75, will make his presentation, “An Engineered Look at the Cause of the 2010 Macondo Blowout,” at 7 p.m. in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

Turley plans to review the wellbore mechanics prior to the temporary abandonment, the temporary abandonment procedure and the post-blowout forensics.
