Vehicle flips onto top, breaks pole on Dudley

PARKERSBURG – A single-vehicle wreck closed a portion of Dudley Avenue Monday morning.

Samantha James, 22, of Parkersburg was cited after she drove her 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee onto a guy wire, rolling the vehicle and snapping the utility pole

Lt. John Young of the Parkersburg Police Department said according to the report, James was traveling southbound in the 2600 block of Dudley Avenue when the wreck occurred.

“She advised the steering wheel locked and she couldn’t correct it,” he said.

Young said James and a juvenile in the vehicle at the time were not injured.

James was cited for failure to maintain control of her vehicle, failure to produce an operator’s license, no child restraint and no seat belt.

The incident closed down both lanes of Dudley Avenue in the 2600 block while crews cleared debris and repaired the pole.
