Career center names students
MARIETTA – The Washington County Career Center has named its October Students of the Month, Jamie Davis and Brennen Ferrell.
Davis is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Computer Graphics program. She is the daughter of Greg Davis of Marietta and Diana Heiss of Marietta.
Davis is vice president of the Business Professionals of America youth organization, a member of the National Technical Honor Society, Student Council and Interact Club, and she is the class Secretary in her program.
Davis has been a Career Center Student Ambassador both her junior and senior year.
She has received awards for All A’s Principal List, All A’s and B’s Honor Roll, Outstanding Computer Graphics Student, Outstanding English Student, and Outstanding Government Student. During her junior year, Davis participated in the BPA Regional Competition, in Steubenville where she placed 3rd in Desktop Publishing. In Computer Graphics, she earned the IC3 certification for Computer Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online.
Davis is employed at Emeritus as a kitchen helper. Upon graduation, she plans to attend either Shawnee State or the University of Northwestern Ohio to obtain her bachelor’s in health care administration.
Brennen Ferrell is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program. He is the son of Mike Ferrell of Belpre and Christy Elliott of Belpre.
Ferrell is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization and National Technical Honor Society. He has received awards for the All A’s Principal List, Outstanding Government Student, Outstanding Chemistry Student, Outstanding English Student, and Outstanding Sports Medicine & Exercise Science Student. Ferrell has completed a Dual Credit Trigonometry course and is currently in a Dual Credit Pre-Calculus course which gives him both high school and college credit.
During his junior year, he earned the Certified Fitness Trainer certification through his technical program. At Belpre High School, Ferrell is a member of the National Honor Society, Academic Excellence Recognition Organization, Outdoor Club, and he has stayed active in baseball, basketball, golf, and soccer. He is currently ranked second in his graduating class at Belpre High.
Upon graduation, Ferrell plans to attend Ohio State University to obtain a master’s degree in dietetics with a minor in Athletic Training or Nursing.
