I-77 ramp closed Wed. morning due to accident

WILLIAMSTOWN-The northbound ramp of Interstate 77 at exit 185/W.Va. 31 in Williamstown was closed Wednesday because of a morning accident involving a tractor-trailer, said Dave Brabham, maintenance engineer with the West Virginia Division of Highways.

Officials directed inquiries about the accident to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. The investigating officer could not be reached for comment on the accident.

During the closure, motorists traveling northbound on I-77 and planning to use exit 185 in Williamstown had to continue north on I-77 for approximately two miles, exit at Ohio exit 1 in Marietta and then use the Williamstown-Marietta W.Va. 31 Bridge.

The ramp was reopened by 2:30 p.m., highway officials said.
