Authorities arrest Sparks, Logston

PARKERSBURG – Two wanted Parkersburg men were arrested Friday and Tuesday in Wood and Doddridge counties, police said.

Officers with the West Virginia State Police arrested Mikal L. Sparks, 34, 2608 Avery St., Parkersburg, in Doddridge County on Friday, officials said. He was the Parkersburg Police Department’s warrant of the week on June 26.

Sparks was indicted by a Wood County grand jury in May on felony charges of sexual assault in the second degree, sexual assault in the third degree and sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust.

Parkersburg police arrested Roger Dale Logston, 39, 912 Virginia Ave., Parkersburg, on Tuesday at Wood County Circuit Court. He was the warrant of the week on May 8.

A criminal complaint filed against Logston in Wood County Magistrate Court alleged that on April 27 Logston made an unwanted entry into a 25th Street home, physically abusing a female for four hours. The abuse included hitting her with a belt and baseball bat while choking her until she passed out, police said.

The allegations of the victim were supported by injuries on the victim’s body and locating the listed items used to abuse her, according to the police report.

Logston had three prior domestic battery convictions on Feb. 12, 2009, Sept. 27, 2011, and April 27, 2012.
