One dead following two-car accident on U.S. 50

WEST UNION – One woman is dead and three others were injured in an accident on U.S. 50 in Doddridge County Wednesday.

According to the West Virginia State Police, 30-year-old Mindy Weaver, of Bridgeport, died as a result of two-car accident near Smithburg Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Long Run Road in Doddridge County. According to the release, Weaver was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the median and collided with a vehicle traveling east. Weaver’s vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by David Naill, 43 of Westminster, Md.

Naill and his passenger, 43-year-old Karen Lemmert, also of Westminster, suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to the hospital.

A juvenile, traveling with Weaver, was also transported to the hospital by helicopter, the release stated.

The incident is being investigated by the West Virginia State Police’s Doddridge County detachment. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
