PARKERSBURG – A woman arrested in connection with the assault and attempted robbery of a 79-year-old man waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Wood County Magistrate Court.

Later she appeared in Wood County Circuit Court for a bond hearing. Judge J.D. Beane set her bond at $50,000 with home confinement.

Amber Nicole Pickens, 27, 4812 15th Ave., Parkersburg, waived the preliminary hearing on an charge of non-aggravated robbery and was bound over to circuit court for consideration for indictment by a grand jury.

Pickens was arrested with Matthew Edward Depew, 22, on May 2 in connection with the assault of Homer Wilson earlier that day.

According to the criminal complaint filed with magistrate court, Pickens was talking to Wilson about renting an apartment. While they were talking, Depew got in the car and began to punch Wilson. The complaint alleges Pickens took Wilson’s car key and said “get his wallet” as Depew continued to hit him.
