Arias verdict announced

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Jodi Arias Wednesday was found guilty of the first-degree murder of her then boyfriend Travis Alexander.

She was in a much-publicized trial for the past four months on charges of first-degree murder. Alexander was killed in June 2008 at his home in Phoenix.

The verdict was read Wednesday afternoon in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Arias was a waitress and aspiring photographer. She initially denied involvement and later blamed the killing on masked intruders.

Two years after her arrest, she said she killed Travis Alexander in self-defense.

Jurors began deliberating Friday afternoon.
