Two arrested in Gilmer beating
GLENVILLE- Two men were arrested Sunday in connection with the December beating of two Gilmer County residents.
Dustin Tyler Moore, 23, of Buckhannon and Derrick Lee Stalnaker, 18, of Jane Lew were arrested in connection with the Dec. 5 beating of Ricky L. Townsend and Lindsey R. Ables, said Gilmer County Sheriff Larry Gerwig.
They are charged with attempted murder and were arraigned in Gilmer County Magistrate Court. Their bonds were set by Magistrate Alton L. Skinner II at $150,000 for each.
The suspects are in custody at the Central Regional Jail at Flatwoods. Because they are in custody, the date for their preliminary hearings will be set within 10 days.
According to the criminal complaint, Stalnaker, Moore and two others, identified as Michael Matthew Pumphrey and Tiffany Danielle Mayo, allegedly entered the residence of Townsend and Ables at about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 5. The suspects allegedly attempted to murder the victims by striking them in the head at least twice with a lead pipe, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said the strikes caused severe lacerations and allege the suspects took $325 from Townsend’s pockets.
Gerwig said the department has leads on the location of the two remaining suspects.
