Man facing drug charges after search

NEW MATAMORAS – Hundreds of prescription pain pills were found Wednesday during a search of a New Matamoras home.

Agents of the Major Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant Wednesday at 1209 Williamson Ave., Lot 33B, the home of 55-year-old Michael Slonaker.

Officers seized 308 Oxycodone tablets, powerful prescription pills that are often abused, said Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks.

The confiscated pills have an estimated street value of $9,000, according to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Because of the quantity of the pills, Slonaker was charged with a second-degree felony count of drug possession and a third-degree felony county of drug possession.

Agents also seized more than $3,000 in cash and a small amount of marijuana from the home.

The Major Crimes Task Force believes Slonaker is one of the more active dealers of prescription drugs in Washington County, said Mincks.

Slonaker is being held at the Washington County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
