Local author appears on Fox show
PARKERSBURG – Visiting the American Girl Place on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
That was Destiny Foutty’s favorite part of visiting NYC and landing a spot, alongside her sister, on the morning TV news show “Fox and Friends.”
The entire Foutty family from Wood County traveled to New York City by car for the television show and promote 8-year-old Destiny’s new book, “Relationships are Elementary.” She wrote the book for her sister, Lindsay, after she wanted to help her get over a longtime ex-boyfriend.
The sisters were interviewed by Gretchen Carlson on April 9.
Destiny said her least favorite part about the trip was waking up at 5 a.m. to do her hair and get to the studio to film their segment. After filming, the family walked through Times Square and visited the American Girl Place.
While waiting in the green room, the family got to meet about seven of the on-air personalities with the Fox News Channel. Picking out her own outfit, Destiny sat next to her 21-year-old sister to answer questions in front of a national audience.
She said she was nervous but, having her sister by her side, she even came up with a great reference about creepy iguana owners.
When asked about an excerpt from her book, Destiny’s response was, “like if he says he’s a librarian and is really an iguana owner.” Carlson finished the thought with the fact that if a boy is dishonest about his career, he probably lies about other things and the relationship wasn’t meant to be.
Destiny quickly agreed with the statement and the trio had a laugh.
On the day of their appearance, Destiny’s book reached the number three best-selling spot on the Premiere Collectibles website of the top five best-selling books for the day.
Ahead of Destiny were two books written by former president George W. Bush. Reports have been circulating of Destiny’s appearance on other national TV shows, but the family still awaits confirmation.
Foutty will appear at the “Local Authors” show at the Stone Administration Building on Rockland Avenue in Belpre today to read an excerpt from her book.
