Crime task force arrests two in Marietta motel

MARIETTA – Two people were arrested on drug offenses Saturday morning at an undisclosed motel in Marietta by the Washington-Morgan County Major Crimes Task Force.

Taylor Marie King, 23, 224 South High St., Marion, Ohio, and Harrison C. Featherstone, 28, 2511 Brocton Court, Columbus, were charged with possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, the task force said.

King and Featherstone were placed in jail in lieu of bond pending an appearance in Marietta Municipal Court, the task force said.

Agents obtained a search warrant for a motel room that was rented by King and the arrests were made around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the task force said. The motel will not be disclosed, Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said.

During a search of the room and car owned by King the task force found cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills, the task force said. The cocaine and marijuana was located on tables in the room in plain reach and view by both occupants, the task force said.

Featherstone is on parole from Franklin County for a robbery that occurred in Washington County on Aug. 14, 2009, the task force said.

King advised she drives Featherstone down to Marietta every few days so he can do “business,” the task force said. King also advised Featherstone provides her gasoline money and makes her vehicle payment, the task force said.

King also was convicted on drug charges related to marijuana and prescription pills, the task force said.

The Major Crimes Task Force is composed of representatives from the Marietta Police Department, the sheriff’s departments from Washington and Morgan County and the prosecuting attorneys from both counties.
