Casino Night planned at artists gallery

MARIETTA -What’s your pleasure? Blackjack, Texas hold’em, maybe a spin of the roulette wheel?

Those games of chance and more will be available during Casino Night for the Arts at the Riverside Artists Gallery Saturday. Working in conjunction with Artsbridge, this will be the gallery’s first-ever Casino Night.

“It’s going to be a night of fun from 7 to 10 p.m. that supports children’s programs for both Artsbridge and the Riverside Artists Gallery,” said gallery member Betsy Cook. “There have been so many cuts to arts programs in schools that we and Artsbridge are trying to fill that gap, but we need to raise more funds to do it.”

Fellow gallery member Todd Morrow said the Riverside Artists children’s programs are popular.

“We have our summer arts camp every year, and an after-school program for kids while schools are in session,” he said. “We get a lot of kids between the ages of 7 and 16, especially during the summer camp.”

Cook added that the Riverside Artists Gallery is also developing an arts program with the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County.

Saturday’s Casino Night will feature a variety of games, including Texas hold’em, poker, blackjack, craps and roulette.

Hors d’oeuvres, drinks and raffle prizes of original artwork will also be available.

“With their $25 ticket, players will receive a $10,000 bankroll of RAGbucks, a free drink ticket and a raffle ticket,” Cook said. “Game winnings can be used to purchase raffle tickets they’ll place in boxes beside 15 different pieces of artwork to be given away as prizes.”

She said quite a few tickets have already been sold for the event, but there are plenty still available, and those who purchase tickets in advance will receive four additional raffle tickets when they arrive at the casino Saturday night.
