Annual Unique Boutique set for weekend

MARIETTA – For those looking for a great buy on clothing and accessories for the family, Zonta’s annual spring Unique Boutique today and Saturday is the place to be.

“We have men’s, women’s and children’s clothing – all like new and many items with the original tags still attached,” said Chris Lisk, publicity chair for the Zonta Club of Marietta, which sponsors the event.

The sale kicks off from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and continues 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. Saturday in the north side of the Tractor Supply building in the Frontier Shopping Center.

“People know everything we sell is in extremely good condition, so we usually have around 100 waiting at the door when we open on Friday,” Lisk said.

“The lowest-priced items are purses and shoes, which sell for 50 cents, and our highest regular price is $5 for jackets and sport coats,” Lisk said. “But there’s also a specialty rack with very nice higher-brand name items that will sell for $10.”

A “bag sale” begins at noon Saturday where customers can fill a bag and pay one price for everything. Lisk said prices will be based on the size of the bag being filled.

She said the majority of the proceeds from this weekend’s sale will go into the Zonta Club’s scholarship fund for Washington State Community College students.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” Lisk said, “and we usually raise around $3,000.”

Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Nearly 33,000 members belong to more than 1,200 Zonta clubs in 67 countries and geographic areas.
