Two sought in armed robbery

PARKERSBURG – Deputies with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office are looking for information regarding two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery on Friday night.

Deputies were dispatched to the Pioneer Adult Book Store, located at 6603 Emerson Ave., Parkersburg, at approximately 11:04 p.m. Friday.

An employee of the store contacted the Wood County 911 Center about being robbed at gunpoint, said Chief Deputy Shawn Graham with the department. Deputies were joined by members of the Wood County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau.

Two black males reportedly entered the store wearing dark-colored hoodies, faces covered with bandanas and wearing gloves, according to the preliminary investigation. The larger of the two suspects produced a silver-colored handgun and pointed it at the clerk while demanding money.

After the suspects emptied the cash register, they took the clerk to a back room where they pushed him down to the floor and ordered him to stay under a table as they fled the building through the back door, Graham said.

“They left with an undisclosed amount of cash,” he said.

The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5′ 10″ to 6′ tall, 280-300 pounds, wearing a dark hoody, a bandana covering his face, gloves and grey pants. The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” to 6′ tall, 180 pounds, wearing a dark hoody, a bandana covering his face, gloves and dark pants.

Graham said there is no evidence to indicate this robbery is related to the Feb. 1 armed robbery at Peoples News, located at 3601 Emerson Ave.

“There is nothing that tells us these two incidents are related,” he said.

Anyone with any information concerning the investigation or suspects is asked to contact Det. Camille Waldron at 304-424-1834.
