Marietta man arrested for sexual misconduct

MARIETTA – A Marietta man was arrested Monday for an alleged summer tryst with a 15-year-old female.

Phillip Edward Aaron Pruden, 32, of 852 Greene St. Apt. 2, at first denied allegations that he had engaged in sexual relations with the girl, but later admitted to one sexual encounter, said Capt. Jeff Waite of the Marietta Police Department.

He was aware of her age. He said he was concerned about it, said Waite.

The girl, who told investigators she was in a relationship with Pruden at the time, reported that there were three instances of sexual misconduct, all taking place during the summer of 2012, Waite said.

She said it was not consensual because she was intoxicated at the time of the incidents, said Waite.

It is not known if Pruden provided her with the alcohol, he said.

Because Pruden is more than 10 years older than the victim, he was charged with a third-degree felony count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

There is nothing at this time to suggest other juvenile victims, said Waite.

Pruden is being held at the Washington County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
