Crash leaves one man dead
AMESVILLE – The Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash early Saturday morning in Ames Township in Athens County.
The highway patrol reported that about 12:38 a.m. Saturday, a 2002 Toyota Tundra was eastbound on Ohio 550 near Milepost 5 when it went off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
The driver of the Tundra, Jason W. Sharp, 33, of Glouster, was ejected from the vehicle. The highway patrol reported Sharp succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. A seat belt was not being used at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Athens Patrol Post.
Ohio 550 was closed for approximately three hours while the crash scene was investigated.
