Charleston man sentenced in break-in
MARIETTA – A Charleston man accused of drunkenly breaking into a local business was sentenced in Washington County Common Pleas Court Thursday.
Preston Harris, 19, of 3475 Allens Fork Road, was sentenced to 38 days in the Washington County Jail with credit for eight days served on a fifth-degree felony breaking and entering charge.
“I think the discussion in chambers was that the defendant would serve an additional 30 days in jail on top of what he’s already served,” said Washington County Prosecutor Jim Schneider.
Harris also received three years of community control sanctions and will have to pay $400 restitution, ordered Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Randall Burnworth.
Harris pleaded guilty in Marietta Municipal Court to a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft and a second-degree misdemeanor count of criminal damaging in March incidents four days after he was arrested for the event at Rink’s.
