Car catches fire Friday afternoon
PARKERSBURG – Parkersburg Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Seventh and Juliana streets Friday afternoon with no injuries reported.
Officials arrived around 4:10 p.m., with the fire extinguished in minutes, said Capt. Mark Kunselman with the Parkersburg Fire Department.
Roland Reagan of Asheville, N.C., was traveling on Juliana Street in his 2000 BMW 528i when he noticed smoke coming from the hood, according to the report. He pulled over into the parking lot of 701 Juliana St., officials said.
The fire department was concerned about the car’s close proximity to a building, Real Dealz Trading Co. One fire engine, one aerial truck, a rescue truck and a command vehicle responded.
No injuries were reported in the fire. Flames were visible from the front hood of the car when first responders arrived on the scene, officials said.
Kunselman said the vehicle is believed to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Traffic in the area flowed as usual, with little interruption except for the fire and rescue trucks to get close to the fire.
