Arraignments heard in circuit court

PARKERSBURG – Four men indicted by a special session of the grand jury last week were arraigned Friday in Wood County Circuit Court before Judge Jeffrey Reed.

* Garrett L. Griffith, 28, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, was arraigned on charges of two counts each of burglary, domestic battery and petit larceny and one count of breaking and entering. He entered an innocent plea to the charges. A state motion to move the trial to the May court terms was granted and the trial was set for May 29.

* Aaron M. Richards, 34, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, and Jack Lee Pollard, 45, 3611 Rollins St., Parkersburg, were arraigned on the indictment where they were named as co-defendants. They entered pleas of innocent to charges of operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug laboratory, conspiracy to operate or attempt to operate a clandestine drug laboratory and possession of substances to be used as a precursor for the manufacture of methamphetamine. A state motion to move their trial to the May court term was granted and their trial was set for June 11.

* Andrew Thomas Whipkey, 30, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, was arraigned on the indictment charging him with two counts of malicious wounding and one each of unlawful restraint, battery of a government representative and fleeing from an officer. He entered a plea of innocent and his trial was set for April 23.

* James R. Walters, 30, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, was arraigned on an indictment from the January grand jury charging him with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug laboratory and conspiracy to operate or attempt to operate a clandestine drug laboratory. He entered an innocent plea and his trial was set for April 23.
