Speed may be issue in W.Va. 31 accident

WAVERLY – A motorist drove off West Virginia 31 (Deerwalk Highway) and into a vehicle parked in the driveway of a house Wednesday night, pushing the parked vehicle into a garage, Wood County Sheriff’s Department said.

The female driver, who was being treated at the scene late Wednesday, was driving too fast for road conditions in a 2003 Honda Acura, said Wood County Sheriff’s Deputy David Tennant. The driver’s name and homeowner’s name were unavailable Wednesday.

The garage door on the brick two-story house at 701 Deerwalk Highway was damaged, officials said. The accident occurred at about 10:12 p.m. across from the Golf Club of West Virginia. The motorist was driving north on W.Va. 31 at the time of the accident.

The accident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
