Police await cause of death for man
PARKERSBURG – Police do not believe foul play was involved in the death of a Parkersburg man whose body was found near the Little Kanawha River Wednesday, but are still waiting on an official cause of death.
The body of Nick R. Blackburn Jr., 29, was found by employees with the Department of Highways at the rear of the DOH property at 620 Depot St. Police said when he was found, Blackburn was partly unclothed but there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body.
Parkersburg police Chief Joe Martin said Thursday he was waiting on word from the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical examiner. Martin declined to release any more details on the circumstances of Blackburn’s death, pending the outcome of the coroner’s report.
