Court hears pleas, sentencing in robbery

PARKERSBURG – Three men charged in connection with the 2011 robbery of a local business appeared in Wood County Circuit Court Wednesday.

Bradley Michael Bay, 23, Ricky Lee Walker, 32, and David Andrew Naylor, 25, were indicted by a special session of the grand jury on July 18, 2012 on charges of breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, entering without breaking, conspiracy to commit entering without breaking, grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit grand larceny. Bay was indicted on a charge of escape from April 2012.

Naylor of 18 Aqua Circle, Parkersburg, was sentenced Tuesday. He pleaded guilty by way of a plea agreement to a charge of grand larceny as charged by the grand jury. He was sentenced to one to five years in prison suspended for three years probation.

Bay of 208 Dempsie Ave., Parkersburg, entered a plea agreement to plead guilty to an unrelated charge of escape from custody. All other charges from the indictment were dismissed.

Bay waived a presentencing investigation and the court moved to sentencing. Judge Jeffrey Reed sentenced him to eight months and 12 days in prison with credit for eight months and 12 days served.

Walker of 211 Dempsie Ave., Parkersburg, entered a plea agreement to plead guilty to a charge of grand larceny. His sentencing was set for 1:30 p.m. April 22 before Reed.

According to court records, on Sept. 1, 2011, Walker, Bay and Naylor went to 431 Industrial Park Road and entered the premises of Kanawha Scales Services, where they cut the lock off the tool trailer.

Walker removed items from the shed, police said. The items were found at Walker’s residence, his storage shed and porch of his residence.

Other items were found in Naylor’s utility trailer parked at Walker’s residence, police said. Items taken were propane tanks, drills, bottle jacks, tools, a grinder, cast iron weights, shim plates, lugs, gasoline cans and extension cords. All items were valued at more than $1,000.
