Circuit court holds three hearings

PARKERSBURG- An acquittal was returned Thursday in Wood County Circuit Court after a two-day trial.

Harry Shane Mills, 56, 1537 Blennerhassett Heights, Parkersburg, was acquitted on two charges each of first-degree sexual abuse and sexual abuse by a custodian as charged by the September 2012 grand jury.

One count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of sexual abuse by a custodian were dismissed during the first day of trial on a motion from the state.

In other hearings Thursday:

* Crystal R. Butler, 23, 1408 Liberty St., Apt. 1, Parkersburg, was scheduled for a change of plea hearing but did not appear. Judge Robert Waters granted a state motion to issue a capias for her arrest and her bond was revoked. She was one of three co-defendants in a 16-count indictment from the September 2011 grand jury.

Butler was charged in counts alleging fraudulent use of an access device, conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of an access device and fraudulent possession of an access device.

* Dustin Michael Maxwell, 32, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, was in court for a bond reduction. His motion was denied by Waters and he was remanded to custody where he has been held on a burglary charge. He has applied for participation in the West Central Drug Court.
