Egg hunts scheduled

PARKERSBURG – Easter egg hunts are planned throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley in the next two weeks, including one especially for visually impaired children.

The Easter Egg hunts and other activities scheduled for the weekend include:

  • Mountwood Park will hold its Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday at Carsons Station at the park on Volcano Road off U.S. 50 east of Parkersburg.

  • In Marietta, Ewing School will hold Breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 8-11:30 a.m. Sunday at the school at 1701 Colegate Dr.

Admission is $5. There will be raffles and activities.

  • In Belmont, the Carehaven of Pleasants Community Easter Egg Hunt will be 1 p.m. Saturday.

The hunt will be for children ages 10 and under. The event will include visits with the Easter Bunny, face painting and games. For more information, contact Carehaven at 304-665-2065.

  • In Belpre, a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave. The cost is by donation.
  • In Marietta, the Gospel Mission Food Pantry will have a visit from the Easter Bunny and a basket giveaway from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the pantry at 309 Lancaster St.

Donations are being accepted for the basket giveaway program, including baskets, candy and other items. For more information, contact pantry director Candy Waite at (740) 350-4417.

  • In south Parkersburg, a Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. April 12 at Fairplains Elementary School, 615 Broadway Ave.

The cost is $5 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12. There will be food, coloring, puzzles, crafts, a raffle and the Easter Bunny.

  • An Easter egg hunt will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Parr Hill Community Church, Beavertown, Ohio.
  • In Cutler, an Easter Egg Hunt will be held at noon Saturday at the Cutler Community Center.
  • In Rio Grande, Ohio, “Easter Down on the Farm” will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Bob Evans Farms.

Activities include the Easter Bunny, horseback rides, Barnyard Express train rides, kids crafts for the first 300 children and tours of the homestead mansion and the Wizard of Oz exhibit.

Admission is free, but participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to stock local food pantries.

  • The Parkersburg Lions Club will hold its third annual Easter Egg Hunt for visually impaired children from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at City Park in Parkersburg.

The event is free and open to children of all ages with visual impairments, along with one helper. The Lions Club will provide specially designed eggs to help children locate them, along with eggs filled with candy.
